Yoga is a science. When combined with techniques used by Occupational Therapists working with children with learning challenges, it becomes an effective therapeutic tool.
Through yoga, children have shown improved strength, balance and flexibility. They have learned body awareness within the envelope of space and they have learned to recognise tension and stress within their bodies as well as ways to control this tension through breathing and relaxation.
In small groups, children show improvements in self esteem and social interactions. Yoga is a non-competetive physical activity and most of all, yoga is fun.
